You likely need to add the following line to the /etc/apt/sources.list
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/ubuntu-toolchain-r/test/ubuntu xenial main
TBH, it is way better to update to a newer version of OS, as it is an
increasing pain to support old OSes for me and I will likely drop that
support soon.
