In 1.9.4 it doesn't work with a mouse. You need to write or paste text using keyboard.
To enable buttons you need to release any key while keeping focus on the non-empty textbox.
So paste text using ctrl-v should work in 1.9.4.
I've checked it with Firefox 67.0 and it works for me.
